Selma Adzem is a singer and songwriter from Gorazde, Bosnia. Due to the war there, Selma was forced leave her beloved Bosnia behind and moved with her family to Salzburg, Austria.
Her singing talent was quickly recognised by the acclaimed Salzburg School of Music, where she gained a music scholarship at a very young age.
Selma took part in the German talent show `Popstars‘ where she found fame with her powerful voice and soulful sound. After achieving a great deal of success on Popstars, she was invited to appear on Stefan Raab’s Total TV, one of the most popular late night shows in Germany; Selma performed live with Stefan on the show, which regularly attracted millions of viewers across Europe.
It did not take long for Selma to be invited to perform at the Donauinselfest, Europe’s biggest open air event in Vienna, and subequently she toured with the biggest Austrian national radio station Ö3 - the "Ö3 Zeitreise" visits all of the major cities in Austria and has a huge fan base.
All of this vast experience enabled Selma to embark upon a solo career as a singer and songwriter, and she was able began to work on her own independent projects, without any restrictions or industry standards.
In 2010, Selma took the huge step to move to England to establish herself as a solo artist. She formed “Selma & The Sound”, a transient collective of musicians. During this time, she discovered her true passion for composing music and writing lyrics.
The freedom of being an independent singer and songwriter has given Selma the chance to write and compose for producers across Austria and the UK.
After Selma´s house single “Feel the Rhythm” was released, it was announced that A1, the biggest telecommunication company in Austria, had chosen “Feel the Rhthym” as its song for their image campagne 2013.
Living and playing in Portsmouth, Selma released her first album with her band called "Selma & The Sound - Special To Me" on all major online music platforms, like Itunes, Spotify, Amazon MP3 and many others.
In early 2014 she had the great honor to perform with one of the best bands the Balkans have ever seen, called "Mostar Sevdah Reunion".
The well known Bosnian documentary series "Namigivanje Zvjezdama" (Blinking the stars) hosted by famous Song/Book writer Miso Maric aired a documentary about Selma´s Life on national TV in 2014.
In August 2015 Selma performed live on TV alongside Miso Petrovic (Guitarist of Mostar Sevdah Reunion) in front of over 15,000 spectators at the 27.8m high diving platform of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in Mostar.
